Merry Christmas
I have been waiting to share our Christmas card for about a month. I had the crazy idea to get a picture of all of us one day after church. We don't usually get a chance to have all of us on the card, but I wanted to try. I couldn't have been happier with the results. The pictures were crazy and a mess. Maybe a crazy mess. And I loved them. Here it is:
Merry Christmas!

Let it Snow!
On Monday we had our second snow for the season(I think). The girls were anxious to go out and play in it. I bundled them up and out they went. I watched, from a safe distance, but it looked like they were having fun. I usually don't like the cold, but I am learning to love it. I'm pretty sure that has to do with my girls. Everything is always good through their eyes.
Brynlee was even enjoying herself for a little while.
A very little while
About 5 minutes later she was done, so we went inside.
Have a good weekend!

Hot "Sausage"
It's officially colder than cold outside.
The calendar marked December 1st, and we haven't made it out of the 30's.
It's the perfect weather for some hot "sausage" as Adrienne would say.
She's a mess, but I think we'll keep her.

I missed Wednesday last week, so here is 2 for 1.
( I know they are very grainy, but this is what happens with no lights on and no flash. Sorry)

I'm So Very Thankful
Thanksgiving came and went, but not without some good memories. The family gathered at my house this year. My sister and her family arrived on Wednesday to help with the preparations at Mom's house. One of my cousins also came on Wednesday. Jr. and his family joined us on Thursday. When we decided on my house, I was a little concerned about how we would fit, but we managed. There were tables everywhere you looked, both in the kitchen and the living room. The meal was amazing, like always, but the time together was the best.
Mom, Ashley, Jeremy, Annita, & Jr. before the meal
Brynlee & Grandpa
Adrienne & her friend, Nick
Leah & Daddy
Scott & Brayden enjoying the game

Grandma reading to Leah
I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!

Everyday Randomness
1. Adrienne and Jesus finally had their "date night." Jesus tries to make a point to have some one-on-one time with each one of our girls. Adrienne had been asking "when is it my turn" for the last few months. Friday evening, they took a little trip to Borger for dinner and a movie.
2. Jesus and I also were able to squeeze in a date on Saturday. We went to a banquet for a new organization opening in Dumas. Afterwards, we went to pick up a few things for breakfast the next morning. (Exciting, I know. But it was a night with no children.)
3. The decision has been made. The plan is to return to school this January. I will be going for nursing. I'm nervous and excited. Wish me luck!
4. Thanksgiving is right around the corner, then Christmas. I will be hosting this year. Talk about a ticking clock to get those rooms finished.
5. Speaking of Christmas, Jesus is obsessed with Christmas lights. I blame myself, when we first started dating I would have him drive me around just to see all the pretty lights. It's rubbed off on him. He has been planning his display since June.
6. It's almost time for PTO Basketball. I received the sign-up sheet last week. Let's hope Leah has another good year.
Oh, and did I mention there is a movie coming out this Friday! Can't wait.

Where do I go from here?
When I originally started this blog, it was for the sole purpose of letting our family and friends watch the girls grow. So far, I feel I have done an okay job with that. Somewhere along the way I have come across some new-found passions. I didn't realize how much of a creative release this could be. I am trying to find a good balance between our everyday lives and my diy, crafting, and photo posts. I do promise to try and not bore you to death. I guess like everything else, it is a learning process. I know one thing for sure. I am going to take a fellow bloggers advice and not take it too seriously. It's a release and it's fun.
We'll see where I go from here.
For those of you who love the pics:
Here's my pyramid and you can tell by her face what she plans to do.

30 Day Mom Challenge
I'd like to start with a big thank you to those of you who have stuck with me the last 5 months. I wasn't sure how I would feel about starting a new blog, but as of now I love it. With a new month starting, I wanted to try this 30 Day Mom Challenge I found via Kendra on pinterest. I know I'm not perfect and I am always looking for new ways to be a better mom. This felt like the perfect fit for the month of November.
Join me. Let your children know how much you LOVE them!

Progress Reports
Last week was the 9 weeks mark at school. On Tuesday, I had a teacher conference with Leah's 1st grade teacher. She showed me her report card and let me know how she is doing for the year. She is doing very well. No problems so far. All "S." We couldn't have been happier. (I forgot to take a picture of her report card)
On a sadder note, if we had a progress report for my "to-do" list, we might get an A for effort. When I wrote that little list of only 8 projects I forgot to mention all the small projects. Such as: sanding and painting every piece of furniture, finding new wall art, possibly new bedding, etc.. Oh and let's not forget that my house is always full of energetic little children. Which means we can't do much renovating during the day, so Jesus and I have been up almost every night from around 9:00 to 12:00 working on their rooms. Needless to say, we're almost 3 weeks in and A & B's room is just about done. Next up, L's room.

Newly painted dresser/changing table
Also newly painted toddler bed

Locks of Love
Miss Adrienne has been telling me she wants a haircut for about 6 months now. We keep telling her no. If you've seen her, her hair is almost to her waist. She was pretty determined to get it cut because about a month and a half ago she cut her bangs by herself. It wasn't too bad and she didn't need a haircut. Well this past Wednesday she did it again, so we decided it was time to get her a cut before she did something that wasn't fixable. I told Briana that if it was long enough to donate then we would go short. It was. We cut off 10 1/2 inches. We explained to her about the donation and she was all for it.
Here are her before and afters:

Over the Weekend
This isn't a post about our progress in the rooms. There was no time for projects this weekend. On Saturday, we headed out to Amarillo in an attempt to finally make it to Maxwell's Pumpkin Patch. We rolled in to the farm about 5:00. The girls were so excited. It is one of their favorite things to do this time of year. And mine too.
For lunch we all gathered at my grandparent's house and had a little family reunion. It was sad at times sitting there remembering them, and knowing that they aren't with us anymore, but we know we will see them again. And although death is a part of this world, so is new life.
After the Pumpkin Patch. We continued south and headed to my home away from home. As some of you may know my "Grandpa Lupe" passed away this February. While preparing the funeral arrangements the family made a donation to the church in his honor. This past Sunday they presented us with a plaque during their church service.
This precious little girl was so sweet to remind me of that.

Gratitude for the Week
- Weekends. I have now realized I have a long list of DIY projects, and weekends are usually when I can get them done. Thanks to my # 2.
- I realize Jesus made the list last time. But last time it was because he was not around, and I realized how much he helps. And this time it is for all the help. Most of all, keeping the kids busy when mom is doing one of her many projects.
- Spray paint. Weird I know. But this fun little invention is coming in handy with all the room makeovers.
- Another, busy but good, week at the Vargas household.

The Point of No Return
Another busy weekend at the Vargas house. There was no football game on Friday, so we had an open evening. We decided to surprise the girls by taking them to the Discovery Center. It was open late last Friday for the Amarillo Balloon Festival. The festivities for the night was "Glow." The balloons inflate but never take off. They sit there and glow. It is still fun to watch.
Saturday we went back to Amarillo and picked up some of the things we will be needing for the girls rooms. There are only a few times a don't like living in a big city, and when I need supplies is definitely one of them.
Sunday we started off with church in the morning. Then it was demo of the room and painting. We are now at what my husband likes to call "The Point of NO Return." Empty room. Walls painted. We're off to a good start. I hope it continues.

To-Do List
There is going to be a few changes going on in the Vargas household. Everyone say a little prayer for Jesus and me, because I am not his favorite person when I am redecorating.
- move my computer to the hall linen closet
- remove the desk in the living room & replace it with some sort of seating
- switch the girls room around-Brynlee & Adrienne are going to be sharing a room & give Leah her own room
- Build a built-in shelving system around the window in the girls room
- Paint both rooms...again(this will be the 3rd time since we moved in)
- put up a new tile backspash in the kitchen
- possibly paint kitchen cabinets
- master bedroom make-over
(rough drawing done on paint of the girls new room...hopefully)
We'll see how it goes;)

Brayden's 3rd Birthday
As I mentioned before we celebrated my great-nephews 3rd birthday one week ago. It was a good time. It was just fun getting all of the family together. That doesn't happen very often.
