Why Not?

Last Sunday was my niece's 5th birthday party. The party was all about "Tangled." She loves that movie but who doesn't. There was a cookout, a pinata, and of course cake and presents. The girls spent their time going back and forth from the party area and the playground near by. So I found myself running back and forth following them(with a camera). I wanted my brother to have those memories but I also wanted him to be part of those memories.

Which brings me to my question. Why don't photographers specialize in capturing birthday parties? Or maybe they do and we just don't ask. We hire them to capture our weddings, family pictures, and maybe the yearly birthday pose, but why not have them make that day just as special...I know you are all thinking what about cost?

So maybe we don't need a professional, maybe just a good friend or great sister (like me).

All I know is Adrienne's & Brynlee's birthday party is soon and hopefully I can enjoy it and maybe even make it in a picture this year...anyways it was just a thought.

And if you are wondering...I did not hire a photographer. So I will probably be the one behind the camera at their party;)

one fish two fish red fish blue fish

The girls took swim lessons last week. It was Leah's 2nd year and Adrienne's 1st. Every morning we were at the pool by 10 a.m. and we stayed for an hour. Leah learned how to swim both above and under the water. They tried to teach them how to float on their backs(we are still working on that one). And Adrienne was learning the basics. I think her accomplishment this week was putting her face in the water!

Here's Leah getting ready to go under.

Adrienne with her lifeguard.

And here she is waving at me instead of paying attention.

This was there last day.

Leah found a diving stick!

And here is Adrienne demonstrating how NOT to go down the slide.

They both still have lots to learn but I think I might end up with two fish yet.

4th of July

So I realize I'm about a week late posting this but better late than never. Right. We took the girls to Amarillo for the 4th this year. We started off at the Discovery Center, then a barbecue with their cousins, and finished with a laser show in Canyon.  Here is some of what the girls did...

They dug for dinosaur bones.

Adrienne rested on a bed of nails.

They enjoyed learning about electricity.

Brynlee and her sisters visited the western town.

Afterwards we took a moment to get a picture.

Then the girls wanted to walk down to the small "lake."

You've got to love this face.

There was no fireworks this year because of the severe drought we are in so there was a light show in Canyon. The walk wasn't that bad but the park was full.

Here's one of  Leah, Miriam, Adrienne, Halee, and Brynlee waiting for the show.

It was a great day!!!
