Insta-weekend

We went on a quick road trip this last weekend.  We ended up 3 hrs south of us in a little town called Lubbock. My nephew was playing in a basketball tournament all weekend, so we went to watch. In case you didn't know, it was also Father's Day and Jesus' birthday.  It was nice to just get away for a few days.

Here is some of what we did in Instagrams:

Happy Father's Day!

I saw a version of this on pinterest, and wanted to make my own. We were out of town this weekend so I haven't printed it for him yet, but I showed Jesus and he loves it.

My first 5k

In February of this year a friend of mine asked me to join her in the "couch to 5k" program...

 Me. Run. Are you crazy?

I hate running.

Even though every thought and muscle in my body was screaming at me NO!!

I agreed.

I think they say you have to do something consecutively for 2 weeks and then it will become routine.

Lies.

All lies.

I can honestly say that finally I want to run and look forward to it.

Yes, 4 months later!

I just ran my first official 5k.

I never thought I would say this, but I hope it wasn't my last.

A Sneak Peak

This could read Easter Part II.  I had scheduled my session with Britain for the Monday after Easter, but the news said it was supposed to rain. So I asked Britain and his mom if we could reschedule for Sunday evening. After a full day of running around chasing my kiddos I finally had a chance to relax. I left my girls with Jesus and told them I had to work. I don't know if you could really call it "work." We had so much fun! I followed him around for a few hours listening to him play his guitar.

Oh yeah, and I took a few pictures too.

Easter

Easter was this past weekend. We started the day by attending church. Afterwards I managed to snap a few pictures of the girls. It was a little windy and Brynlee wouldn't look at me, but two out of three isn't bad.

After our quick pics we changed and headed over to my mom's.  My sister and brother were both coming down for the day.  The girls and I dyed some easter eggs while Dad bar-b-qued(?).

We had an easter egg hunt for the little ones. The girls came home with way more candy than they needed. I'm helping take care of it for them.

And because it's tradition, after the hunt, we brought out the cascarones(confetti eggs).

No one was safe. Except for maybe Brynlee. As soon as the chaos started, she figured out that she wanted nothing to do with it.

How was your Easter?

Leslie 2012

Meet Leslie. I met her through church when she was still a freshman. I approached her to be my model a few weeks back. I know she was probably thinking she is just a crazy mom with a camera. When I asked her I still hadn't announced my plans. So she had no idea what she getting in to.  It wasn't until we were finished with our "shoot" (I use that word lightly) that I let her know I was going to school for it and that I wanted to be a photographer. She was a very good sport, and I think she looks beautiful.

Thank you Leslie for taking a chance with me!

Chasing Dreams

I started this blog to help family near and far keep up with our lives. I never thought it would help me find my new path in life. How?  You wonder? One of my routine posts that became a favorite of mine, is "Wordless Wednesdays." I have never been a writer, so starting a blog didn't make much sense. But I have always loved taking pictures. Every week I would look forward to finding new things and new people to photograph.

So here is the big announcement. I am taking my love of photography to the next level. I am now a photography major, and I want to be a photographer! (eek! now the world knows)

Choices.Fear.Decisions

Before I begin, I am going to apologize for all the rambling and length of this post.
In October of last year I made the decision to go back to school. For some reason I knew it was time. I jumped right in and continued right where I left off. I wanted to be a nurse(or so I thought). I don't really know the reasoning why, but I just decided one day I was going to be a nurse even though something else has always been tugging at my heart. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't think I could be a nurse or even that I wouldn't enjoy it, but there is something else that I have always wanted to do. If I lived any where but here I wouldn't have hesitated, but in this small town my "career"choice isn't exactly in demand.

If you know anything about me you know I am shy and quiet. Easygoing. As much as I hate to admit, I'm a people pleasure. Secretly I am a very competitive person. I took one of those personality tests the other day and guess what, I'm an introvert. Big shock, I know. That's who I am though, it's not what I do or love. I love art, music, crafts, photography,etc... yes I am one of those people.

With all theses things in mind I finally decided to take that leap and follow my heart. It was probably the hardest decisions I have had to make, and as terrified as I am about this new chapter, I am so happy when I think about it.

I know this is very vague. And I didn't mean for it to be. I am still trying to get used to this decision, so it might take me a while to tell the world.

Fluffy the Puppy By: Leah Vargas

Fluffy the puppy was a cute little puppy. But on her first day of school she was scared.  Whenever her mom tried to wake her up she hid under her cover and said "no ones here now go away." But her mom said" that it was time to get up"for her first day of KinderGarden. So she had to get up. Her mom got her ready. Her new teacher showed her her desk. She wasn't sure about her first day of school. So then her teacher Mrs. Sus started teaching. And at recess Fluffy made alot of new friends. So after school her mom asked how school went and Fluffy said "great!"

I copied it for her word for word. Isn't is great!

Spring Break 2012

I was so happy to see 3-9-12 on the calendar. A week off with just my girls. I had class on Saturday, so my spring break didn't officially start until 11:45. After class Jesus and the girls met up with me in Amarillo. We had a b-day party at Jump-n-Jive.

Sunday was a typical day. We went to church. Headed to Dumas for groceries and errands. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Monday morning all plans for a fun week went down the tube. I woke up with the beginning of the flu. By that evening I was freezing and burning up. I tried my hardest to stay away from the girls because I knew I didn't want all of us to get it.

Tuesday I could barely get out of bed. Jesus came home to check on us and did what he could during his breaks but it was too late. Brynlee was already showing some signs of getting it. And...

By Wednesday, Leah was burning up and freezing. Adrienne was at the beginning stages. Needless to say we all ended up at the doctor's office.

I did however get to use a little tip I saw on pinterest. I can't ever keep up with when I give out medicine or to who I give it to. I tried writing it down, but then I have to try and remember where I left that paper. It just never worked. So here is my new trick. (I hope you don't have to use it any time soon)

Write it on the bottle with a sharpie!!
(I know you're thinking why didn't I think of that)
With this many medications and this many doses, it saved us.

Back to the same ol' routine tomorrow.  We are all doing better. I just need to figure out how to get rid of this annoying cough that was left behind.

Daily Randoms

1. Basketball, Basketball, Basketball...since January we have done Basketball. Leah has been practicing every Monday for their PTO tournament. It's finally here, she plays today and tomorrow.

2.My b-day was last Saturday, and I had school. Yuck. After class the day was better. I turned 28 (I don't really remember much of 27...it went by too fast). I'm hoping this year goes by a little slower.

3.Jesus and I had a date for the first time in a long while. It was our V-day/my b-day date. We watched "The Vow," it was good but not as good as I thought it would be.

4.Adrienne says the funniest things these days. Here are some of her favorites lately...
"this relationship is over"
"wholly guacamole"(this one usually comes out while playing Mario Kart)
"let's do this thing"

5. I know I haven't said much about Brynlee, but she is in this "mine" stage and I think she might be thinking she's 2. Let's hope we can get her little attitude in check.

6. This week I started couch to 5k. We finished week 1 last night. I can't believe I'm saying this, but it actually feels good to be running again.

7. This week I decided to start a new project. I'm calling it "A year in our Life." It's a cross between Project Life and a mini album. So far I am loving it.

Project: "A year in our Life"

8. If you haven't looked at your calendar, here's a heads-up, March is next week! Slow down 2012.

Have a good weekend! See you next week.

Wordless Wednesdays

I was sorting through pictures the other day, and I came across this one. I rarely make it in a pic, but I am glad Jesus managed to get the camera away from me for this one.

Happy Valentine's Day!

If you are on Pinterest I'm sure you have seen this V-day card circulating.

Here is our little version...

Happy Birthday!

What day is today? Today is Leah's Birthday! I guess you could say I am a little excited. My first baby is now 7(well at 7:02 p.m. she will be). She continues to grow up so fast. Last year on her b-day she said "I can't wait until I'm 7," and now this year it was "I can't until I'm 8." I just want her to be seven and then tomorrow I want her to be seven and one day. One day she'll want the years to slow down.

We celebrated her birthday Saturday. She wanted a painting party. At first I wasn't sure about it, but the more it came together the more I liked it. I can assure you I will never have another one, but it was definitely fun. Her cousins came down and my parents were there. It was a good day.
