Progress Reports

Last week was the 9 weeks mark at school. On Tuesday, I had a teacher conference with Leah's 1st grade teacher. She showed me her report card and let me know how she is doing for the year. She is doing very well. No problems so far. All "S." We couldn't have been happier. (I forgot to take a picture of her report card)

On a sadder note, if we had a progress report for my "to-do" list, we might get an A for effort. When I wrote that little list of only 8 projects I forgot to mention all the small projects. Such as: sanding and painting every piece of furniture, finding new wall art, possibly new bedding, etc.. Oh and let's not forget that my house is always full of energetic little children. Which means we can't do much renovating during the day, so Jesus and I have been up almost every night from around 9:00 to 12:00 working on their rooms. Needless to say, we're almost 3 weeks in and A & B's room is just about done. Next up, L's room.

New window seat/toy box
(For my "friends" on facebook did you notice the little girl in the corner with no pants)

 Newly painted dresser/changing table

 Also newly painted toddler bed

More pictures to come when it is completed.
Happy Monday!

Locks of Love

Miss Adrienne has been telling me she wants a haircut for about  6 months now. We keep telling her no. If you've seen her, her hair is almost to her waist. She was pretty determined to get it cut because about a month and a half ago she cut her bangs by herself. It wasn't too bad and she didn't need a haircut. Well this past Wednesday she did it again, so we decided it was time to get her a cut before she did something that wasn't fixable. I told Briana that if it was long enough to donate then we would go short. It was. We cut off 10 1/2 inches. We explained to her about the donation and she was all for it.

Here are her before and afters:

Over the Weekend

This isn't a post about our progress in the rooms. There was no time for projects this weekend. On Saturday, we headed out to Amarillo in an attempt to finally make it to Maxwell's Pumpkin Patch.  We rolled in to the farm about 5:00. The girls were so excited. It is one of their favorite things to do this time of year. And mine too.

After the Pumpkin Patch. We continued south and headed to my home away from home. As some of you may know my "Grandpa Lupe" passed away this February. While preparing the funeral arrangements the family made a donation to the church in his honor.  This past Sunday they presented us with a plaque during their church service.

For lunch we all gathered at my grandparent's house and had a little family reunion. It was sad at times sitting there remembering them, and knowing that they aren't with us anymore, but we know we will see them again. And although death is a part of this world, so is new life.

This precious little girl was so sweet to remind me of that.
